About the Program
The Postgraduate Studies Program “Environmental Sciences and Public Health” (“Environmental Sciences and Public Health”) is interdisciplinary and has the objective to strengthen the scientific knowledge and skills in addressing the emerging environmental risks and the public health challenges posed by the climate crisis in the 21st century. It consists of coursework, laboratory exercises, and research projects designed and implemented by a vibrant community of academics and practitioners from Greece and USA in the fields of environmental sciences and public health.
The Goal
The goal of the program is the training of young scientists in the field of the climate crisis and its impact on public health, as well as conducting research and further studies on the sustainability of products in relation to the climate, the energy-water-food nexus and its effect on health, but also the utilization of waste in the context of the circular economy, the bioeconomy and health, the analysis of environmental exposure to emerging risks and the adverse results for public health, the treatment of domestic and international public health emergencies caused by environmental disasters, as well as pollution control and natural resource management.
